Summer Necklace Craft

This Summer Necklace Craft for kids is such a fun summer themed activity idea. You can never have too many easy crafts to keep kids occupied on hot summer days!

Important note: Please note that this craft should only be done with children old enough to safely wear a necklace.

I love the slower pace of summer and spending extra time with my two little ones. Here in Texas, it just gets so hot! I'm envious of everyone else who spends lots of time outdoors in the summer because here we'll just melt. • Easy set up: Whether you have a rainy summer day, it's too hot to play outside or your kids are asking to do arts and craft it's such an easy craft to set up.
• Creativity: Get creative with making the beads. You could use things like dried pasta, dried painted pasta, actual beads,cut up paper towel tubes (we used something similar for this Earth Day Necklace). We used paper straws since we had a big pack of them leftover from another project.
• Ages: This is a great craft for a variety of ages. Any child old enough to safely wear a necklace all the way to elementary aged children will enjoy this adorable craft.

📝 What's included with this set?

You will need the following supplies to make this adorable necklace craft, including:

• Watermelon template: See further below in the post on how to download the PDF template. There is no sign up required to get the template, just keep scrolling down.
• Crayons, markers, or colored pencils: To color the watermelon template in.
• Hole punch
• String
• Straws or beads: We used cut up paper straws for our beads but you could use actual beads, dried pasta, or really anything that would work as a bead. Feel free to get creative with this project!
• Laminator: This is totally optional but you can laminate the watermelon template for extra durability.

✂️Step by step instructions on how to make this craft

Step 1: Print, color, and cut out the watermelon template. You can laminate for extra durability, if you like but this is totally optional.

Step 2: Punch two holes towards the top of the template so that you can push the string through.

Step 3: Cut up straws to make the beads. We used paper straws.

Step 4: Add everything to your string.

Step 5: Tie a knot to make the necklace wearable.

⭐ Tips

• We used paper straws for the beads but you could use plastic straws, painted or plain dry pasta, regular beads, or really anything that inspires you!
• If you like you can laminate the watermelon template once colored for extra durability.
